Beautiful Butterfly

This card was made for a challenge over at CTS #357 and I think it fits the bill, I hope it isn't so subtle that it doesn't work.  I'm happy that I put this on SSS Fog cs or else the texture would've been even harder to see.  However, I'm okay if it doesn't, they're the judges, and I trust the process.
Here's their sketch ~

For the stripes, I decided to use texture instead to change it up a bit...

For the "stripes", I used embossing paste through a stencil, first translucent on the top, white in the middle, and pearl .  I first masked off the center and used paste for the upper and lower sections, and lastly through the middle.  Just underneath the lower portions of the wings, you'll notice a couple dots that actually have two pastes within them.  I also masked off the lower and upper edges like the sketch, leaving room for a sentiment later.   The butterfly was colored with Copics and fussy-cut.  Last but not least, I used a border edge to define the edge a little more.

I'm so glad I could make the challenge, even if deemed that it doesn't fit, it stretches me and I enjoy the process and comraderie.  Thank you for the opportunity to grow.

Supplies:
   SSS - Circle Dots stencil
   E by E - Be The Change

Hugs and Sunny Day Wishes to all,

Red Berries & Green Ribbon

Another day, another card!  I'll take every victory, large or small  :o)    I really like the way this one turned out, and I'm happy to be entering it over at TO #150 Merry & Cheerful .  I stamped this with a new set, colored it with Copics and added glossy accents to the berries and ribbon.  I thought maybe I'd overdone it with the glossy ribbon but I still like the shine!

I really wanted to add an entire gray surrounding panel because I felt the color added so much.  However it just didn't look right (maybe due to the square-ish size?), so I trimmed off the sides and went with the top and bottom bit of gray.  Just in case you didn't see enough of that gloss...

It's kind of odd how in the pictures it appears to have bubbles in the gloss but I assure you there isn't.  Maybe it's an optical illusion of the gloss!  Not sure, but I'm gonna go with that one.

Supplies:
   AE - Festive Wreath (NBUS)
TE - Inside & Out Christmas

I'm sure everyone is having as hectic a schedule as me, but I'm so thankful you spent a few minutes with me!  Enjoy the season and take a break to relax.

Hugs,
TK

Gnome For The Holidays

Howdy, Friends!   I guess if you're here, you made it through the initial holiday rush, you've recovered from "turkey-itis", and survived Black Friday... so let's get onto the card.  I found the colors over at CTD #571 to be gorgeous, conducive to Christmas, and colors I can actually come up with an idea for -- yay me!  Colors can be a stretch for me, especially when it's someone else's idea... I'm also entering this over at TO #149 Celebrations and Inspired By - Pink Christmas.

As you can see, I started with my pretty little girl, colored her and then decided that I wanted to show off more of the silver (sorry the bottom of the sentiment doesn't show well), so I cut her out and made a label with silver ep and silvery paper behind.  As for the challenge at Time Out, I didn't use the twist of "one-layer" but she is celebrating, isn't she?   And, well, I'm sure you all get where the IB challenge showed up! A close-up so you can see the silver a bit better...

I used a silver Signo pen to color her pom-pom and brim of her cap, the stitching on her dress, the stars, stocking trim and silver ep for the sentiment.  I hope you like her  :o)

Thank you all for popping in and sharing your kindness, it is appreciated!  Hope your holidays are everything you could hope for!  God bless you all.

Hugs,
TK

Merry & Bright Snowmen

Howdy, Friends!  I hope you had a wonderful weekend, and took time to play.  I'm popping in quickly to post a card for Color Throwdown #570.  Here's a look ~

For CTD #570, I used the orange, turquoise and gray; and of course they're sitting on, not to mention made of, snow!  I think the picture may look a bit redder than it is but it is orange with a red under the shaodowing of the orange.  This was actually really fun to color; I love the colors and fun snowmen!   A closer look at the colors used ~

Supplies:
   AI - Holly Jolly
   MFT - Wonky Stitched Rectangles

(Sorry, somehow I had the wrong image, so had to edit...)

Thank you so much for popping in and visiting, your visits mean so much!  And I do hope that I'll be around soon to catch up with all of you; however work will likely be long for the next couple of days, then Thanksgiving so please be patient.

Hugs,
TK

Congrats - Wheelie!

Good day, Sweet Friends!  Glad you came by and I'll try to be brief!  Hubbs and I went camping a few weekends ago and I colored a few images as we relaxed, this being one of them.  Little did I know that within weeks, Dtr #1 would get her motorcycle endorsement, so it was easy to make into a card!  While the placement of the sentiment wasn't by choice (I had to cover a couple ink blops), I do like it more than I thought I would.

And a look-see at the inside?

I have to admit that I'm not positive what the little bump is off the back end, above the fender... so I colored it like a taillight on the outside, and used it as a muffler on the inside! I guess that's what you call "flexibility" - lol.  The image was Copic colored, die cut into a frame and popped up on foam tape.  Hope you enjoyed it, and hope your weekend is awesome!

Supplies -
EbyE: Good Times stamp by Julie for scooter and inside sentiment
LF:  Scripty Words for outside sentiment
Jane's Doodles:  Seamus the Sheep for the little heart

You Da Best!

Another Father's Day Card, this one for my dad!  I had this NBUS die and have been wanting to use it, so I pulled it out and made a simple but bold card for him.  While simple in design, I like it because it kept it graphic on the outside and "mushy" on the inside (hehe).  Have a look-see...

Try as I might, I could NOT get the colors correct!  The pp is on a white background, with olive green and mid-tone blue (PTI Blueberry Sky-ish), and so are the matching cardstocks used for the die.   So use your imagination, and I hope it works for you!  This card used SSS You Da Best die, and a potpourri of inside sentiments.

Secondly, I made this next card because my dad is currently in the hospital rehabbing from an ankle surgery/fusion.  He's been in for a little over a week, rehab is intense but he should be out in a couple days so I made another little card hoping for a speedy recovery.  Here's a peek at it:

I used another little cute bunny from The Cats Pajamas called Flying By, then again colored using my Copics.  I hope he'll like his little "mail".

Again, thanks for your visit, and blessings to all of you, Friends!

Hugs,
TK

Relax.... and enjoy Father's Day!

Here's wishing all those fathers out an amazing, relaxing, love-filled day!  I hope there's good food, good people, and lots of love!  This card is to Hubbs!  I know  our girls, son-in-laws and grandson will be here, but here's hoping that there's no lawn to mow, weeds to pull or cars to work on!  Enjoy!

This was made with a rubber stamp from Crafter's Companion and is its first time to see ink.  I've been tempted a few times but ran from fear of coloring.  However, yesterday I got out the Copics, colored the image and rather like it; I'm happy I had the fortitude to try!  It was then cut with Lil Inkers Stitched Rectangle die and placed on an olive base.

Thanks for popping in, and I hope to visit all you friends soon too!  Enjoy your day!

Hugs,
TK

Commencing Happy Dance!

Is it just me, or is everyone behind these days?  Can't seem to get caught up with anything and seems like I'm always on the run.  So unfortunately, another quick post and to enter a challenge over at Time Out, Challenge #134 Playful.  Here she be!

So Playful you say?  Where's the playful?  Well if Happy Dancing isn't playful enough, maybe the inside is - hope this works for ya!

Supplies -
Girl Stamp:  Santoro "From The Heart" (NBUS)
Sentiments:  MFT Beyond Basics - Birthday (NBUS too, I believe)

Thank you for popping in and sharing your support, it means a tremendous amount to me!  Take care, have a great day, and share a Happy Dance with someone today!

Birthday Hugs

Howdy, Peeps!  Just popping in with another card of late.  This one was colored with Copics using a Santoro stamp -- I just adore these little girls!

It seems like my lack of ability to get into my craft room in the past few months has created a lack of ability to create!  It seems like the end product just doesn't come off like I envisioned in my head.  Is that a thing?  I'm just hoping it's a dry spell caused by a lack of "practice" so....  back to the craft room I go!

Thanks for stopping by and sparing a little time for a visit!

Hugs,
TK

CAS MixUp - December, Fusion - It's Christmas, AND Merry Monday #226

Another card to share, one that is winging its way to the recipient, and hopefully there!  I sponged a background, die cut the snowbank and applied a glitter using double-sided adhesive paper, then die cut and colored the other elements.  After everything was together, I added the sentiment.  Here she be!

This fits nicely into two challenges, so they be headed to:
CAS Mix-Up (Dec.) - Stamping, sponging, diecuts, Copic coloring and glitter
Fusion (It's Christmas) -I used both the sketch (which I flipped on the short side), and the photo (the sparkle on the pillow, and white).   Pooh! I missed it -- been caught up in jury duty and when I get home it's too late!!!

ETA: Bobby encouraged me to join in at Merry Monday #226 - Winter Fun since I missed out on Fusion!  Thanks for the invite, Bobby!

Products -
Stamps:  MFT Toasty Greetings (& dies); MCS Joy To The World (sentiment)
Die:  PTI In The Meadow (NBUS)
Ink:  Memento Black, Altenew Sea Glass, HA Silver
Misc:  Copics, ultrafine glitter, Neenah 80#

Hope everyone is staying safe, warm, and enjoying their holiday time abundantly!  See you around, and thanks for spending a bit of your day with me!

Fusion 10/6/16 -- Happy Birthday, Daughter #1!

I'm actually pretty excited how this all came together!  Sometimes (ok, a lot) I have great "plans" and then I muff it up, it doesn't look the same on paper as it did in my head or SoMeThInG happens!!!  I know it happens to everyone, but I think a little more to me since I'm relatively new to all this...

Well Daughter #1's Birthday was actually yesterday but since she was out of town with her hubby, we'll be celebrating today.  Goodness!  She's the big 3-0!!  That doesn't make me old, right?  Well, before I keep you too long, I'll let you take peek...

I stamped the image and colored with Copics, added a few white gel accents, masked and ink blended through a stencil for the sun, cut the base and main image layers with stitched detail and mounted to the cs.  Glossy accents were applied to noses, eyes, balloons plus a few random ones to imitate the balloons.  A close-up of the details...

This was a fun card to make!  It will be sent to Fusion Card Challenge.  I was inspired by the layout, although it's totally in a scene instead of different cuts.  I couldn't make the chairs in the photo fit the stamp, go figure!

Products -
Stamps:  Penny Black Hedgehog Balloon Madness, front sentiment is SSS Sending/Wishing
   Stencil:  MFT Sun Ray (NBUS)
   Die:  Lil Inkers Stitched Rectangles
Paper:  Bristol smooth, PTI Blueberry Sky, Neenah cardbase

OCC Clear & Sheer 2.1 Bday Penguin

Wednesday's challenge was to create a card with vellum and a technique.

I chose to do a couple, I embossed the tree and Copic colored on the backside of the vellum.  Then die cut, colored and mounted two images and a banner on foam tape to the front of the vellum.  This was then mounted over a background with a printed pattern (small yellow flowers).  All the foam tape was hidden when mounted onto the background paper, and I used Multi Medium Matte to attach the vellum to the background behind the foam and the palm tree.

I'm also adding this to:
TimeOut #55 - Celebrate, with a twist of die cutting!

Supplies:
   Neenah CS 80#, 100#
Stamps - My Favorite Things Penguins In Paradise (NBUS); Altenew Birthday Greetings (NBUS)
Dies - My Favorite Things Wonky Stitches (NBUS); Lil Inkers Stitched Rectangles (NBUS); My        Craft Spot (closed)    - Banners Straight
Copics, Simon Says Stamp White ep, Paperbilities patterned paper

Stay tuned, two more days of class!  Thanks for taking your time to visit!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, GRANDSON #1

Today is the 4th BD of my first and only grandchild.  I made a card, and it'll be neatly tucked into his packages as we head out to his BD party after church (and his nap) today.  He's the joy of our hearts, as we patiently await any other blessings that the Lord may give us in the form of grandchildren.  This boy is definitely a boy's boy, as he loves cars and motorcycles already (Hubb's genes).  He will inevitably hear a "hefty" engine, and call your attention to it when you think he's oblivious to the world around him.  He's also one of the first children I've ever seen happily make a mess, and be equally happy to clean it up when he's done!  He even takes off his shoes and lines them up on the rug near the door, and straightens my bedding if he feels I didn't do a good enough job! Can you tell I'm a bit proud?  Onto the card...

I was told anything dinosaur, so here's my contribution!  I stamped using a new set, colored with Copics and added it onto a card base which I used Versamark and a stencil to make tone-on-tone effect.  I hope he likes it!  Unfortunately I wanted to use too many elements and thus the "rhino" guy looks to be riding "dino's" back!  Does this count as a Miss Darnell's Oops?  Or did I miss that boat? Lol

Supplies:
Paper - PTI Ripe Avocado, Neenah 80#
   Stamp - Paper Smooches Cute-asaurus
Ink - Versamark, Memento Tuxedo Black
Stencil - PTI Modern Backgrounds (3)
   Clear EP, Copics

Thanks for stopping by again,  and getting an ear full of gab, but I truly hope your weekend is wonderful!

MUSE #148 and belated Birthday

First, I have to apologize for the photos, it's been really gray here and obviously I need another
method of photographing my cards!  My first card is  inspired by Anita's inspiration card:

And here's my submission:

This second photo is a better representation of the colors and shine... colored with Zigs.

This card is going to MUSE #148.
Paper:  Neenah, DCWV silver Glitsy Glitter
Ink:  Versamark
Stamp: oldie Bold Patterns from Hot Off The Press
Silver Signo pen, HA silver ep

My next card was a belated Birthday for my best friend -- unfortunately, it was really late due to holidays and travel...

I just love all these little elephants that are so popular right now, but I must practice on the coloring!  I also added Glossy Accents to the balloons, but unfortunately you can't see it as I ran out of time before work and getting it posted on the way out the door...

Paper:  Neenah
Stamp:  W+9 Unforgettable
Color:  Copics
Ink: ME Smoke (P), Versafine
Misc: Glossy accents, ZIG pen for doodling

Thanks for joining me today, may God bless you this week!

Get Well Wishes

Howdy!  Today was a gorgeous day in the neighborhood although I didn't see outside until it was after dark!   I guess it was into the 60's which is amazing since we were in the teens just a couple weeks ago, and even had snow!

Anyway, I made this card for my mom, who had surgery yesterday.  I gave her a beautiful bouquet and card, she enjoyed both!  Poppy was stamped, colored with copics, cut with a Spellbinders oval, then all matted together.  I glossy accented her little barrette.

After all was done, I decided to spray the card front and envelope with pearl Shimmer Mist.  I love the look it gave, and even mom noticed!  Here's a close-up of the shimmer...

Hope your day/evening is a good one!

Stamp: Poppy (MFT) and sentiment
Die:  SB oval
Paper: Neenah cs, misc scraps

Welcome Baby

Today I have a card that I made and gave to a friend who is having her first baby, a sweet little boy.  I have had this stamp set for awhile ( believe now retired from Jane's Doodles), and I really wanted to make something from it again.

Paper: Neenah 110#, card base is Neenah 80#
Stamp:  Noah's Ark (Janes Doodles)
Copics

See you again soon!

OCC Holiday Style Day 5

Here is my little scene created from Day 5 of class, Cute & Whimsical Cards.  I loved making this one; probably my favorite, replicating Laura Bassen's whimsy!

This card was not only my first attempt at masking, but also at embossing paste AND copic coloring something that was actually an entire scene not just a small image.  However, I just noticed that I forgot to draw in the rope from the sled to the elf!!!  Oops!

TK

Stamp:  MFT Santa's Elves, Wplus9 Winter Pals
Ink:  Hero Arts
Stencil:  SSS Falling Snow
Wendy Vecchi embossing paste, Stampendous glitter on paste

OCC Holiday Style Day 1.3

This card is taken from Day 1, Laurie Willison's video for Shapes and Masking with Markers.

If I had to critique this one, and trust me I have, I would use a little bigger image or a smaller card base.  However, I really wanted to use this image from PTI and I didn't think of reducing the card until, well you know -- too late!
