OCC Clear & Sheer 2.1 Bday Penguin

Wednesday's challenge was to create a card with vellum and a technique.

I chose to do a couple, I embossed the tree and Copic colored on the backside of the vellum.  Then die cut, colored and mounted two images and a banner on foam tape to the front of the vellum.  This was then mounted over a background with a printed pattern (small yellow flowers).  All the foam tape was hidden when mounted onto the background paper, and I used Multi Medium Matte to attach the vellum to the background behind the foam and the palm tree.

I'm also adding this to:
TimeOut #55 - Celebrate, with a twist of die cutting!

Supplies:
   Neenah CS 80#, 100#
Stamps - My Favorite Things Penguins In Paradise (NBUS); Altenew Birthday Greetings (NBUS)
Dies - My Favorite Things Wonky Stitches (NBUS); Lil Inkers Stitched Rectangles (NBUS); My        Craft Spot (closed)    - Banners Straight
Copics, Simon Says Stamp White ep, Paperbilities patterned paper

Stay tuned, two more days of class!  Thanks for taking your time to visit!

OCC Clear & Sheer 1.1 -- Love You Forever

Greetings, Friends!  I wanted to share with you my first card from the new Online Card Class: Clear & Sheer.  Today (or yesterday actually) was about attaching vellum.  So I made this card and attached my vellum by hiding Kool Tak behind the embossed words and under a couple hearts.

So while I was successful with attaching and hiding my tape, somehow in the pic the sentiment looks like it's warped which it isn't IRL, so clearly I must practice keeping my vellum taute while securing!  I'm also enclosing a close-up so you can enjoy the shimmer from the Inka Gold, as I do  :o)

And just in case you can't tell, this one is for the Hubbs because he's so awesome in letting me play!

Supplies:
CS: Neenah 80#, Strathmore 140#, TPS blue vellum
Inka Gold -- steelblue, jade green and silver; HA silver EP and VersaMark
Dies:  SSS Stacked Hearts and Big U (both NBUS)

I'm also posting this to:
SSS Monday:  Show us your metal (Inka Gold and silver embossing powder)

Here's to hoping Hump Day treats you well, and we're all sliding towards the weekend now!  Later!

MUSE #162

This kard was posted in the mail, and should be to the recipient, so I wanted to post it on the blog before I ran out of time to play at MUSE.  I wanted to send a kard to a friend who leaves me inspired by her creations and her wonderful comments.  She's sweeter than sweet, and I love to read her punny posts on her blog, as well.
When looking at my kard, it fit into the current MUSE challenge, and Tracey McNeely's inspiration card here...

For my kard, I used her theme and colors; but changed up the splatters to smooshed ef.

Supplies:
Stamps - PTI Funky Flowers Y die, Mini Blooms; C&9th - Sophisticated Script (inside)
Dies - PTI Turning a New Leaf, and MFT Howdy Frames
Ink:  HA Green Hills, Cornflower, Raspberry Jam and Ultra Pink with PTI gray inside

Well, I'm off to work on siding, a project we've been working on for quite some time but would like to finish before it consumes our summer!  I wish all "chores" were as fun as cardmaking!  See you soon!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, GRANDSON #1

Today is the 4th BD of my first and only grandchild.  I made a card, and it'll be neatly tucked into his packages as we head out to his BD party after church (and his nap) today.  He's the joy of our hearts, as we patiently await any other blessings that the Lord may give us in the form of grandchildren.  This boy is definitely a boy's boy, as he loves cars and motorcycles already (Hubb's genes).  He will inevitably hear a "hefty" engine, and call your attention to it when you think he's oblivious to the world around him.  He's also one of the first children I've ever seen happily make a mess, and be equally happy to clean it up when he's done!  He even takes off his shoes and lines them up on the rug near the door, and straightens my bedding if he feels I didn't do a good enough job! Can you tell I'm a bit proud?  Onto the card...

I was told anything dinosaur, so here's my contribution!  I stamped using a new set, colored with Copics and added it onto a card base which I used Versamark and a stencil to make tone-on-tone effect.  I hope he likes it!  Unfortunately I wanted to use too many elements and thus the "rhino" guy looks to be riding "dino's" back!  Does this count as a Miss Darnell's Oops?  Or did I miss that boat? Lol

Supplies:
Paper - PTI Ripe Avocado, Neenah 80#
   Stamp - Paper Smooches Cute-asaurus
Ink - Versamark, Memento Tuxedo Black
Stencil - PTI Modern Backgrounds (3)
   Clear EP, Copics

Thanks for stopping by again,  and getting an ear full of gab, but I truly hope your weekend is wonderful!

Welcome, Baby...

This card was made to send to mom and dad of Michele's "little peanut".  Peanut came a bit early to her parents, but just right in God's timing.  I understand she's home now, and they can finally enjoy her fully. So this card is enroute to Michigan...

I layered a panel of pink vellum on card stock, a small snip of Inka Gold smooshing panel, a die cut "baby", and flag stamped with a bit of a sentiment, the other half masked off. Inside Sentiment:  "A baby is cuddles & tickles on ten little toes, the sweet scent of powder, a kiss on the nose!"  Here's a closer look, I hope you can see the shimmer of Inka Gold.

Supplies:
Stamps - PTI Inside & Out: Baby (inside), MFT Beautiful Baby
   Die - PTI Baby
Inka Gold (pink, blue & silver), The Paper Studio pink vellum

Thanks for stopping by, I know I've had a barrage of cards in the last 2 days after DAYS of silence.  That's how life goes for me sometimes...  I'm hoping to get caught up on all your wonderful cards soon..

I started out with the sketch from CTS #167 but couldn't post the card til after the challenge was over, oh well!  The inside sentiment says "Hope your Birthday is filled with FUN, loaded with Laughs and colored with Happy!"

   Paper - Neenah 80#

SSS Wednesday Challenge, Fusion and Stamplorations April

I wanted to pop in and post a card I made that just happened to fit a couple challenges currently.  I first saw the Fusion challenge sketch, and this card just "popped" into my head -- that NEVER happens!  It did end up morphing a bit but I like it in the end.

I started with a scrap of Ranger embossed white cs that I've had in my scrap bin for some time.  From this, I added the white embossed flower , then colored using my Peerless watercolors and die cut it out adding a layer of foam underneath.  I then die cut the layered dragonfly, and made it a bit dimensional with foam tape and balled up glue dots.  Then I stamped and embossed the sentiment, and embossed it with silver ep.  Then looking at it, I decided it needed a bit more to the plain white (I know, some of you are hating me for this) but it just looked to plain.  So I splattered some of the peerless carefully avoiding what I had already done.  Here's a close up...

This will go to my mom for her Birthday, which is right after Mother's Day!

Challenges:

Supplies:
CS:  Neenah 80#, Strathmore 140#, PTI Hawaiian Shoes, TPC Translucent Silver vellum
Ink:  Versamark, HA Silver Shadow
EP:  Ranger Holographic and Cleark, HA Silver
Stamps: Clearly Besotted - Mini Floral Collage, PTI - My Mother, My Friend
Dies:  Clearly Besotted - Dragonfly Collection, PTI Mat Stack 1
Peerless Watercolors, Copic Y17

Thanks for stopping by, and I hope everyone has a WONDERFUL weekend! I know I hope to enjoy mine!

April Fool's Day Boo Boo Hop!

Well here's the day!  You'd think I'd have been ready and waiting for this, right?  Well, I was waiting, but unfortunately I WAS NOT ready this morning!  Join me, would you at Darnell's wonderful blog hop? So, here goes...

So, my story... well I thoght I'd try to Copic color an image when suddenly I realized I just stamped with the wrong ink!  Well instead of trash the piece of paper, I switched gears and decided to watercolor the image instead. Unfortunately I was having issues with my colors blending, bubbling, and just general frustration! It wasn't until I actually was on the last, the watercolor shadow underneath my images, that I started to get all this WEIRD veining, running that I couldn't seem to control OR make look decent.

It was THEN, that I realized my attempt to save my image just wasn't going to work, well, because I forgot I didn't stamp on watercolor paper!  So you can see the weird shadow underneath, the leg coloring that seemed to go where it wanted and then there's those toes! Who painted those things, my 3-year old grandson?  Actually even he colors inside the lines better than this!

So, there goes, here's my boo boo! FYI, it did hit the trash but Darnell announced this blog just in time for me to rescue it from the trash!  Thanks, Darnell!

Thanks for joining me, and I hope you enjoy the hop because I think we all have "mind farts" every now and then!!!
