Just a Little Sumpin' Sumpin'

These were just a quick make of a little sumpin', sumpin' treat to give to a few "kids" that I wouldn't be seeing until after Easter.  Actually, truth be told, I spent until after 1:30 a.m. this morning trying to come up with SoMeThInG!  Hate when the brain doesn't function as one ought to think it should (it had nothing to do with the time of day, I assure you - lol)!

Yes, you'll need to excuse the shadow.... I think the hour of the photo shoot made me not see too much, let alone a nuisance shadow!

CS: Neenah 80#, assorted scrap bits
Stamp:  SSS My Favorite Peeps
Dies:  RC Topped Off Tags and Hang-Ups
Inks:  PTI and Memento
Misc. Baker's Twine
Wink of Stella, which you can't see except maybe a few twinkles on the green bunny!
All attached to Snicker's Eggs

Thanks for poppin' by!  And if I don't see you before Sunday, I truly wish everyone has the best Easter with family and friends.  God bless you all!

Playing Kards with Michele

Dear, sweet Michele asked me to do a "Play Cards with Friends" post with her today, and I was thrilled!  We had chatted on the phone Monday, while playing with some supplies and I sorta talked her through  Ink Smooshing an embossing folder.  Immediately, she went in an additional direction and now we're going to post the kards we made out of our "playing". Soooo (drumroll please)...

...here's my kard!  I used two colors of distress ink to ink up my ef, then spritzed with water, inserted my watercolor paper and pressed with my hands.  After 30 seconds or so, this is what I opened up.  I then trimmed it down a bit and mounted it offset, cut a diagonal strip, ink blended and added my sentiment, then mounted that.  I also inked another sentiment to go inside, because this will be my Mother's Day kard!  My mom doesn't have internet, so she doesn't see anything that I make until she gets it so I'm safe.  :oP

Edited to add:  I did run my original argyle folder through the die machine, but while playing, ingenius Michele came up with that idea and loved it (give her the credit for this one)! So on second watercolor paper, I did just that using the mostly debossed side of the card.  However, not as pretty IMHO.  I think the original, mostly embossed side on this folder would work much better.  Just have fun it it!!!

EF:  Darice Bold Daisy
Ink:  Distress Inks - Wild Honey and Mustard Seed
Stamps:  ME Blessed, MCS (out of business) Chunky Alphabet and PTI My Mother, My Friend
Die:  Li'l Inker On the Diagonal

I'll be sending this to a couple challenges:
Stamplorations CAS: March - Anything Goes, twist of Yellow
CAS Mix Up: March - Watercolor, Stamping & (my choice) Die cut

I hope you all hop over to Michele's to see her kard!  I'm sure she made something amazing, as always!  Again, thanks for stopping by and leaving your sweet comments that bless my socks off!

Time Out #52, Less Is More #268, Technique

Howdy, Friends!  I wanted to try out a "new to me" technique, White Ink Stamp Layering, and made a card to show you.  Although I think I shoulda put my layering a bit closer, I think it turned out okay.

I took a cue from the well-known Jennifer McGuire and used her White Ink Stamp Layering technique.

Ink:  HA Bubblegum, Raspberry Jam and Unicorn White
Stamps:  SSS Artful Flowers (NBUS, Inkadinkadoo (OLD) Expressions

Less Is More #268 - What's Outside Your Window:

We'd love you to display our banner
As you can see, Spring is outside my window!  Yay!  I spent Saturday morning thinning out bulbs that were blooming to pass onto two of my girls for their new yards!  Everyone was happy with a new bit of color...

Thanks for joining me today, and I hope your day is wonderful!  I'm getting ready to chat with a new friend and play a little!  Enjoy.

hello, friend

I wanted to send a card to a blogger friend, who has been such an inspiration, motivator and endless help on my new adventure, this blog.  She's been incredibly sweet, even calling me to "meet"!  How much better can you get than that?

She recently commented on my "inked embossing folder" technique, and fell in love with the folder that I used.  Since I wanted to send her one, I decided to enclose a card as well.  Here it is using the same technique.  I also used a layout design but it is unfortunately now past.  Oh well.  Enjoy!

Supplies:
EF:  DB Daisy
Ink:  Ranger Spiced Marmalade, Picked Raspberry
 Stamp:  ME Origami (sentiment)

Thanks for stopping by! What's your plans for the weekend? I hope to include more cardmaking!!!

Get The Word Out...

Our beloved Darnell of djkardkreations is hosting a blog hop, and it's gonna be a fun one!  She has badge to put on your blog and asks to spread the word because it's starting April 1st!

Here's the description:

If you have ever completed a card and then discovered a boo boo that made you feel like an April Fool, this hop is for YOU!!
  • The linky tool for MY BIG FAT CARD BOO BOO is going to be open for24 HOURS ONLY from 12:05 a.m. PST on April 1, 2016 to 12:05 a.m. PST on April 2, 2016.
  • You can only enter once and you must be a follower.
  • You CAN link a card that you have previously posted on your blog! (Especially if you saw the boo boo after you published your card!)
  • This is a blog HOP. While hopping to every blog is not an absolute requirement to enter, you should make every effort to hop through the gallery and visit your fellow boobs, er, boobooers! Share a laugh, be a good sport, and have a good time!
Just to be clear:

You should not link a card that you think is your ugliest.
Rather, you should link a card that you think is your boobiest!

You know, a card you made that passed through your Quality Control Speculations and went out the door with proverbial toilet paper hanging out of its pants!

For instance:
    • Maybe you generated your sediment on the computer and it said, "With Symphony" instead of "With Sympathy."
    • Maybe your die-cut vehicle only had three wheels,
    • or your reindeer one antler,
    • or your flower vase was upside down.

Are you in?

Hope you join in!!!  See you around...

NBUS #6, CAS Mix-Up, SSS Wednesday

Well I'm just in the knick of time for Darnell's NBUS Challenge, so I better get right to it.  My dad's in the hospital, so I put together this card for him..

I started with a panel that I watercolor smooshed using distress inks and an embossing folder, then matted with a couple of papers, mounted on foam tape and applied to cardbase.  I then used ep to write my sentiment onto vellum, attaching underneath the sentiment only.
Edited to add:  I had seen this technique year's ago (don't even remember where), but resurrected it since I'm in love with this ef!  Sorry I can't get credit!  P.S.  I did not run the ef through a Big Shot or any other machine, just used the pattern after I smoothed and spritzed onto the emboss side (both sides are the same on this folder).

This card is playing in:
NBUS #6 - EF, the script, and an inside sentiment
CAS Mix-Up: March - Stamping, watercolor and heat embossing (my choice)
SSS Wednesday (3/10) - A Bit o' Green

Ink: DI Faded Jeans & Mowed Lawn, PTI Enchanted Evening
EF:  Darice Argyle
Sentiments:  Concord & 9th - Sophisticated script, PTI - Inside & Out Well Wishes and Beautiful       Blessings

Thanks for dropping by, hope you don't mind that this was such a quick post!

NBUS #6, HLS CAS (faux Mother of Pearl) and SSS Wednesday (Touchy Feely)

Well, this one started out as a card for Darnell's NBUS challenge, as I have quite a few things to work through.  It seems to me that I buy because I "need it" but then I reach for my usual standbys so I'm trying to rectify that with help from Darnell!

The original panel was made using Loll's video for faux Mother of Pearl.  I used Distress Inks to blend over pearlized white paint.  The panel was then cut with a NBUS die, leaves rolled up a bit, embellies added, layered over foiled cs and colored cs, then mounted on the panel.  I then stamped the sentiment.

Though it's hard to see the foiled cs, hopefully you'll get a glimmer here.  I really like the two colors I used together, they just seem rich.  Oh yah, I splattered a few water droplets too!

CS:  Neenah 80#, PTI Plum Pudding, DCWV Foiled silver
Ink:  DI Faded Jeans, Dusty Concord, HA Grape Juice
Die: SSS Partial Flower Die-cut
MS embellies

I'm hoping my card works for the SSS "Touchy Feely" but since it has textural layers, I'm gonna try  :oP  Also, may have too many layers for HLS, but I gotta learn right?

Thanks for joining me today, good to be able to get a card out on the blog again!
